Bonterra 2006 Mendocino County Organic Chardonnay

I remember drinking a few bottles of Bonterra when I lived in the Bay Area in the late 1990s. The appeal was the organic grapes, but I remember thinking the wines came up a bit short. However, I’ve become a little more serious (dare I say sophisticated?) about tasting in the years since. This one has a clear, medium lemon-gold appearance and an appealing, clean, medium vanilla-butter nose with hints of oak and grass. Dry with good acidity and medium body. Tasteful oaking lets the flavour of the grapes shine, and as with organic produce it seems the flavour is more apparent or more real. Citrus, oak, and slightly nutty on the palate. Very good! About CDN$23.
